How do I rent a unit?
Rent a unit now by clicking on Locations -> (Your nearest facility) and start renting online. You can also call or stop by one of our offices to rent a unit with the help of our Storage Professionals.
How long can I reserve a unit for?
We are happy to offer reservations free of charge until we run out of that unit size. Once we run out of that unit size, we will contact you to do a prorated move in and secure that unit for when you are ready to Move in. You will also have the opportunity to release that unit back to the public if you are not prepared to rent the unit at that time.
What is required to move in?
To move into your storage unit, you must provide valid insurance, sign the Rental Agreement, bring or purchase a disc-style lock, and pay the $25 administrative fee.
Do you prorate move-ins and move outs?
We prorate every move in from the date you move in to the last day of the month. We do not prorate move outs. If you are occupying your unit on the first of the month, you will owe for the full month.
Am I required to store long-term?
We provide flexible month-to-month lease options to best fit your needs.
What fees are there?
A one-time $25 administration fee is due at move-in. Late fees apply on the 11th, 16th, and end of the month. For exact amounts, refer to your rental agreement or contact us.
Will I need my own lock?
You will need to purchase or bring your own disc style lock for your unit. We offer them for $20 plus tax. For outdoor units in Winona and Faribault – We require you to purchase our disc style lock.
Should I put insurance on my unit?
We require all of our tenants to have insurance on their unit. We offer tenant protection plans starting at $12 a month for $2,000 coverage. You can also provide your private homeowners, renters, business, or Auto (In select circumstances) insurance to us in the form of a Declarations page to satisfy these requirements. Your insurance must remain up to date in our file at all times, otherwise you will be automatically enrolled into the $12 Tenant Protection Plan until we receive the new declarations page.

How does the Free Truck Rental work?
Select locations offer a Free Truck rental for every new move-in. This includes a 24-hour rental and a set amount of free miles. Additional Miles are $1.29 a mile. Additional Days or to rent the truck without renting a new unit, it is $59.99 for a 24-hour rental. Please bring your driver’s license and vehicle insurance with you at the time of pickup for any person who is going to be driving the truck. You are responsible for making sure the truck is completely cleared out and has a full tank of gas upon its return. If you are returning the truck after hours, please place the key in the key drop box by the office.
What are the access hours?
Access Hours are 5:00am to 10:30pm every day.
Why isn’t my access code working?
Your access code may not be working for several reasons: ensure you are entering the code followed by the # sign, Your account may have an outstanding balance, or there could be a violation of the rental agreement. If the issue persists, contact your rental location to verify access. Your gate code also will not work if it is outside of Access Hours (See Above).
When is rent due?
Rent is always due on the first day of the month. We offer autopay to make paying this easy as can be! Talk to your local Storage Professional today to get signed up!
How do I pay my storage bill?
You can pay your bill by clicking the Pay Now tab, and logging in to the portal and paying online, or contacting your local Midwest Indoor Storage location to pay over the phone.
How do I create an online account?
First, make sure you have your unit number, account number, and email address associated with your rental (Both your unit number and account number are in the Welcome email you get at the time of move in). Next, go to the Pay Online tab above, and find the location you have rented your unit at. Select Pay, then Sign Up below the login space. Next, enter in your information, create a username and password, and set your security questions. We recommend writing these down and storing them somewhere safe in case you forget your password, you will need the answers to retrieve your account. Please note that an online account can only be created after you have completed your move in.
How are move outs handled?
You do not need to provide advance notice, just give us a call when you move out. Please keep in mind that we do not prorate your move out. If you are occupying the unit on the first of the month, you will owe for the entire month, even if you do not use it. Please remember to take your lock off your unit, sweep it out, and then let us know that you’ve moved out to avoid any additional charges.
Is there garbage disposal onsite?
We do not provide any garbage disposal onsite. We have small garbage cans that you can use when you sweep out your unit. All items brought into the storage facility with you must be removed when you move out, otherwise you will be charged a disposal fee.
Are carts and dollies provided?
Yes, we have a variety that you can use free of charge.
What items can I store in a climate-controlled unit?
Weather-sensitive items such as artwork, photos, furniture, antiques, household appliances, and other items that may be negatively impacted by intense temperatures and humidity are best stored in a Climate Controlled Unit. However all items needing storage benefit from being stored in a Climate Controlled Environment.
What items am I not allowed to store?
You cannot store fuel, firearms, gas containers, flammable, explosive, or hazardous substances. You also cannot store food, animals, drugs, alcohol or other perishable items in the unit.
How can I ensure that my items stay in good condition in a climate-controlled unit?
To maximize protection, maintain airflow by using pallets and avoiding tight stacking. Cover furniture with plastic or fabric to prevent dust, and store items in plastic totes instead of cardboard.
How do climate-controlled units differ from heated units?
Climate-controlled units regulate both temperature and humidity, while heated units only ensure a warmer temperature in the winter months, leaving your items susceptible to humidity-related damage.
What security features do you offer?
Our facilities are fully fenced and gated with keypad entry. We’ve also invested in 24-hour digital video surveillance so we’re able to see who comes and goes at all times.
